From a stressed out exec to an endurance race finisher

Hi, I am Dmitri Konash, health enthusiast. I decided to start this blog so other people with anxiety and high blood pressure could benefit from lessons from my journey. It is a journey from a stressed out executive of a global high tech company, who suffered from anxiety and high blood pressure in my mid forties, to a triathlon athlete competing in global endurance events in my mid fifties. I started from posting several videos on YouTube with breathing and simple physical exercises like walking, jogging and yoga. They became quite popular and I decided to complement videos with a blog as a way to provide more details and answer questions.

“The photo on the left was taken when I was 48. This is when I was formally diagnosed with hypertension. The photo on the right - my finish at the Ironman Barcelona in October 2020 at the age of 55. Not only my anxiety and hypertension are gone, but my mental and physical conditions are much better than they have been in decades”

Personal experience to get healthy

This blog is not about preparation for marathon or Ironman. It is for people who are interested in practical, effective, natural and scientifically proven ways to stay healthy, active and enjoy life in full. If you would like to lower your blood pressure, reduce stress and anxiety, improve health of your cardio system and joints – this is the blog for you. I strongly believe that a combination of controlled stress and healthy lifestyle do miracles for our body, mind and spirit. The health and longevity tools in my portfolio include exercise, breathing, meditation, healthy nutrition, stress induced by hot/cold exposure, high quality sleep etc. Videos with these tools are available here. I am not going to cover medications in this blog as they mostly reduce symptoms without fixing real health issues.

Interviews with experts

I am fortunate to know many health experts and doctors who are true experts in their respective fields: anxiety and blood pressure control, cardio, psychology, sleep, chronic inflammation, mediation, slowing aging and so on. Some of these experts already kindly agreed to be interviewed for my YouTube channel and provide practical health related tips. Please enjoy these videos.

Measure progress

I have a PhD in computer science and I love science and technology. I also subscribe to a statement of Lord Kelvin, great British scientist: “If you can’t measure it – you can’t improve it”. Hence I am doing my best to measure objectively the progress of my journey to a better health and explain the science behind my efforts. I will share this progress with you. Below is one example. My Garmin watch has sent me recently the photo below which is great to brag about :)

How you manage anxiety or high blood pressure? Please share your story on my Facebook page to encourage other people with these chronic conditions. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
